How to Handle and Prevent Work Burnouts

Are you feeling an immense feeling of stress because of work? Do you dread getting up in the morning and feel exhausted all the time? You are probably experiencing a burnout.

Burnout is a state of mental and physical exhaustion that affects a person’s energy and perspective in life. Working in the pandemic has seriously affected the remote workforce mentally. To avoid and battle burnouts, take note of these tips:

Get physically active

Exercise is good not only for your physical health, but also to your emotional and mental health. By having regular exercise, the serotonin levels in your brain increases. In turn, this can boost your mood and over-all sense of being. It can also improve your sleep cycle and appetite.

Balance your diet

It is much easier said than done but eat right and healthy. What you put in your body reflects on your well-being. Get rid of food with too much sodium and sugar. Instead, eat nutritious meals. This can avoid future problems with your health.

Ask for help

When things get tough and you feel like exploding from the stress, it is best to reach out to your family and friends. Having social interactions are proven to increase a person’s mood.

Rest

Out of all these tips, rest is the most important thing to do whenever you feel burnout. Take a day or two off from work. Give yourself space to breathe from the stress. If you cannot leave work, you can always work in a different environment. Maybe getting locked up in the house is not good for you. Perhaps you could go work on coffee shops or rent co-working space in Hong Kong for a change.

The bottom line is stress and burnout are not good for workers. If ever you feel like this, follow these few simple tips. But, remember to reach out to professionals when you need it.
